Challenge
The homeowner was experiencing cold floors during winter, which was starting to become uncomfortable. They contacted Carolina Energy Conservation for an energy evaluation to pinpoint the issue.
Solution
After conducting an energy evaluation, it was determined that drafts were caused by inadequate insulation. The best way to address this is by replacing the insufficient insulation. After careful consideration, the decision was made to apply closed-cell spray foam to insulate the crawlspace. Installing the spray foam effectively sealed off all gaps and cracks, which were identified as the root cause of air infiltration. With it installed, this homeowner will have much warmer floors in the winter and be much more comfortable.
