Duct Encapsulation in Johns Island, SC

Challenge

The customer from Johns Island urgently needed to address condensation issues on the attic ductwork caused by problems with the blown insulation. After Carolina Energy Conservation evaluated the attic, it was discovered that the insulation settled, reducing its effectiveness. This led to uneven coverage and gaps, which resulted in thermal inefficiency and moisture problems.

Solution

The best solution is to remove the insulation and use open-cell spray foam. This foam creates a barrier in the air, stopping condensation by blocking warm, damp air from reaching cooler surfaces. It also seals gaps and cracks, reducing air leaks and keeping moisture under control in the attic to prevent condensation issues. It doesn't require much maintenance and will last much longer, keeping condensation out of the attic.
