A homeowner in Florence, South Carolina brought in Carolina Energy Conservation to assess their attic insulation, which was old and outdated. The house dated back to the 1970's. In order to make their home more energy efficient and comfortable, the team removed and disposed of the outdated batt insulation, air-sealed any accessible penetrations, installed soffit venting as necessary, as well as two solar attic vents.
From there, the team insulated the attic floor with cellulose blown insulation which is a super-green product, made from recycled materials and treated for resistance to fire, mold, and insects. Overall, this home will be much more comfortable, especially in the winter and hot South Carolina summers.
