Wet Crawl Space in Kingstree, SC
Challenge
This customer was noticing a lot of moisture in their crawl space and after comfort specialist, Joel took a look at the space, he saw that the problem was much worse than we orginally thought. Water had started to pool by the access and corners and was seeping into the space from the ground and through the foundation of the home. The water caused mold to grow and start eating away at the insulation in the floor joists. The mold can be responsible for increased allergens and moisture in the home. We had to find the best solution to keep water out and prevent the outside environment from infiltrating the space.
Solution
Our Foreman, Chance, decided to install a 20 mil vapor barrier around the entire crawl space and up the pillars of the foundation, sealing all of the edges of the barrier. This will keep any moisture from coming into the crawl space and damaging the insulation. We also installed a sump pump to move water out of the crawl space to outside the home, and a dehumidifer to decrease the overall moisture.
